Blaise Nzetchoang N. President of Groupe B&T shares on the qualities of a great leader
Everything fails and succeeds because of leadership. Regardless of your responsibilities, your age, your era and current socio-economic conditions, your success and that of each member of the team depends on your ABILITY to lead them well.
Take a sheet of paper and briefly describe your leadership qualities.
Are you satisfied with your personal and professional results? Are you satisfied with the results of the people for whom you are responsible?
A good leader is above all a visionary. People want to follow someone who knows where he is going, what he needs to get there and his confidence despite the challenges of the process.
What VISION do you have for Yourself, for your team members and for your business?
Once defined, share it with members of your team as it could build the confidence of some and may even push away those who do not approve of it. Either way, you will be a better leader with the right people.
A leader is a good communicator who knows how to transmit his vision and his knowledge. Through motivation he positively influences his team and knows what to say to get them to give the best of themselves. Through communication, a good leader shares, finds common grounds between himself and each member of the team then use it to grow the entire organization. A good leader encourages discussion and practices active listening.
What do you have in common with each of the influential members of your team?
What are the differences between you and the influential members of your team? Try to make these differences a force and not a brake.
A good leader accepts cultural differences, encourages the views of others, practices justice and hates mediocrity.
A good leader practices what he demands of others. He is an example. Before demanding anything from any member of his team, he reassures himself that he has mastered the task and that he has a clear understanding of what it requires.
A leader is above all a good manager who has the skills to successfully lead a project, a company, and a team. A Manager is not necessarily a leader.
A good leader is humble. He does not boast about the results of the work of others. He gives all the credit to his team because he knows that the position of leader is above all a position of service. However, a leader receives recognition from God and not from men. A leader who leads his team well reaps more than fortune. He reaps honor and respect which few are willing to serve despite their high positions.
A leader accepts to be responsible for the failures of members of his team. He learns from his mistakes and grows up with them.
A good leader has a particular style that characterizes him and sets him apart from other leaders. A leader is genuine, original, natural, frank, deep and spiritual.
If your desire is to be a great leader, be rest assured you master these qualities and above all practice them passionately and wisely.
